Eccl
4:9-12
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their
labor.
10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to
him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.
11 Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how
can one be warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
1 Cor 8:10-13
10 ...if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's
temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened
to eat those things offered to idols?
11 And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish,
for whom Christ died?
12 But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their
weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
13 Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again
eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.
1 Cor 12:1-31
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you
to be ignorant:
2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb
idols, however you were led.
3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit
of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is
Lord except by the Holy Spirit.
4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same
God who works all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for
the profit of all:
8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to
another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,
9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings
by the same Spirit,
10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to
another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues,
to another the interpretation of tongues.
11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing
to each one individually as He wills.
12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members
of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.
13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body-- whether
Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free-- and have all been made
to drink into one Spirit.
14 For in fact the body is not one member but many.
15 If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I am not
of the body," is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I am not
of the body," is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing?
If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?
18 But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body
just as He pleased.
19 And if they were all one member, where would the body be?
20 But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.
21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you";
nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."
22 No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be
weaker are necessary.
23 And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable,
on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts
have greater modesty,
24 but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the
body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it,
25 that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members
should have the same care for one another.
26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it;
or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.
28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles,
second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts
of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all
workers of miracles?
30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do
all interpret?
31 But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more
excellent way.
Rom 12:4-18
4 ...as we have many members in one body, ... all the members
do not have the same function,
5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually
members of one another.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given
to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion
to our faith;
7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches,
in teaching;
8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality;
he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to
what is good.
10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love,
in honor giving preference to one another;
11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly
in prayer;
13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.
16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind
on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise
in your own opinion.
17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in
the sight of all men.
18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably
with all men.
Rom 15:5-6
5 ... may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded
toward one another, according to Christ Jesus,
6 that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
II Jn 1:9-11
9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ
does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has
both the Father and the Son.
10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do
not receive him into your house nor greet him;
11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.
Eph 2:11-22
11 ... remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh-- who are
called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made
in the flesh by hands--
12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from
the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of
promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been
brought near by the blood of Christ.
14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has
broken down the middle wall of separation,
15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law
of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself
one new man from the two, thus making peace,
16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through
the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.
17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and
to those who were near.
18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners,
but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household
of God,
20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone,
21 in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into
a holy temple in the Lord,
22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place
of God in the Spirit.
1 Cor 10:16-17
16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion
of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the
communion of the body of Christ?
17 For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all
partake of that one bread.
Gal 5:13
13 ...you, brethren, have been called to liberty…through love
serve one another.
Gal 6:1-5
1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are
spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering
yourself lest you also be tempted.
2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
3 …if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing,
he deceives himself.
4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have
rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
5 For each one shall bear his own load.
Gal 6:9-10
9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season
we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially
to those who are of the household of faith.
Eph 4:1-7,11-12
1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk
worthy of the calling with which you were called,
2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing
with one another in love,
3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in
one hope of your calling;
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all,
and in you all.
7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure
of Christ's gift.
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some
evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for
the edifying of the body of Christ,
1 Tim 3:2-11
2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate,
sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach;
3 not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle,
not quarrelsome, not covetous;
4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission
with all reverence
5 (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will
he take care of the church of God?);
6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the
same condemnation as the devil.
7 Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside,
lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8 Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given
to much wine, not greedy for money,
9 holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience.
10 But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as
deacons, being found blameless.
11 Likewise their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate,
faithful in all things.
Titus 1:7-11,13
7 ... a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed,
not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy
for money,
8 but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just,
holy, self-controlled,
9 holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he
may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those
who contradict.
10 For there are many insubordinate,... idle talkers and deceivers...
11 whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households,
teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest
gain.
13 ...rebuke them sharply, that they may be
sound in the faith,
Titus 2:1-8
1 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound
doctrine:
2 that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith,
in love, in patience;
3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior,
not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things--
4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to
love their children,
5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their
own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
6 Likewise exhort the young men to be sober-minded,
7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works;
in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility,
8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent
may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.
II Th 3:6-15
6 ... we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly
and not according to the tradition which he received from us.
7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were
not disorderly among you;
8 nor did we eat anyone's bread free of charge, but worked with
labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to
any of you,
9 not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves
an example of how you should follow us.
10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone
will not work, neither shall he eat.
11 For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly
manner, not working at all, but are busybodies.
12 Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord
Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.
13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.
14 And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note
that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed.
15 Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
1Thes 4:10-12
10 ...we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more;
11 that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own
business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,
12 that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and
that you may lack nothing.
1Thes 5:9-28
9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live
together with Him.
11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as
you also are doing.
12 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among
you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,
13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake.
Be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort
the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.
15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always
pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
16 Rejoice always,
17 pray without ceasing,
18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ
Jesus for you.
19 Do not quench the Spirit.
20 Do not despise prophecies.
21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.
22 Abstain from every form of evil.
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and
may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at
the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read to all the
holy brethren.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you...
2 Cor 13:11
11 Finally, brethren, ... Become complete. Be of good comfort,
be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will
be with you.
May
God bless the reading of His Word.
Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than
any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and
spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
