Deut 6:5-7
5 "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all
your soul, and with all your strength.
6 "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
7 "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk
of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when
you lie down, and when you rise up.
Ps 78:1,4-7
1 Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words
of my mouth.
4 We will not hide them from ... children, telling to the generation
to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength and His wonderful
works that He has done.
5 For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law
in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make
them known to their children;
6 That the generation to come might know them, the children who
would be born, that they may arise and declare them to their children,
7 That they may set their hope in God, and not forget the works
of God, but keep His commandments;
Ps 34:11-15
11 Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear
of the LORD.
12 Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that
he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are
open to their cry.
Ps 68:3-6
3 ... let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God;
yes, let them rejoice exceedingly.
4 Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on
the clouds...
5 A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in
His holy habitation.
6 ...he brings out those who are bound into prosperity...
Ps 71:4-6
4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of
the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
5 For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; you are my trust from my youth.
6 By You I have been upheld from birth; you are He who took me
out of my mother's womb. My praise shall be continually of You.
Ps 127:3-5
3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of
the womb is a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of
one's youth.
5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them...
Ps 128:1-6
1 Blessed is every one who fears the LORD, who walks in His ways.
2 When you eat the labor of your hands, you shall be happy, and
it shall be well with you.
3 Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of
your house, your children like olive plants all around your table.
4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the LORD.
5 The LORD bless you out of Zion, and may you see the good of
Jerusalem all the days of your life.
6 Yes, may you see your children's children. Peace be upon Israel!
Ps 139:14-17
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret,
and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your
book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as
yet there were none of them.
17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great
is the sum of them!
Prov 10:1,5
1 ...a wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is
the grief of his mother.
5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps in
harvest is a son who causes shame.
Prov 8:32-33
32 "Now therefore, listen to me, my children, for blessed are
those who keep my ways.
33 Hear instruction and be wise, and do not disdain it.
Prov 13:24
24 He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines
him promptly.
Prov 22:6,15
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old
he will not depart from it.
15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of
correction will drive it far from him.
Prov 23:13-19,22-26
13 Do not withhold correction from a child, for if you beat him
with a rod, he will not die.
14 You shall beat him with a rod, and deliver his soul from hell.
15 My son, if your heart is wise, my heart will rejoice-- indeed,
I myself;
16 Yes, my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak right
things.
17 Do not let your heart envy sinners, but be zealous for the
fear of the LORD all the day;
18 For surely there is a hereafter, and your hope will not be
cut off.
19 Hear, my son, and be wise; and guide your heart in the way.
22 Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise your
mother when she is old.
23 Buy the truth, and do not sell it, also wisdom and instruction
and understanding.
24 The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and he who
begets a wise child will delight in him.
25 Let your father and your mother be glad, and let her who bore
you rejoice.
26 My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.
Prov 28:7
7 Whoever keeps the law is a discerning son, but a companion of
gluttons shames his father.
Prov 29:15,17
15 The rod and rebuke give wisdom, but a child left to himself
brings shame to his mother.
17 Correct your son, and he will give you rest; yes, he will give
delight to your soul.
Eccl 12:1
1 Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before
the difficult days come...
Eccl 11:9-10
9 Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer
you in the days of your youth; walk in the ways of your heart,
and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these God
will bring you into judgment.
10 Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil
from your flesh, for childhood and youth are vanity.
Mark 10:13-16
13 ...they brought young children to Him, that He might touch
them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to
them, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them;
for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom
of God as a little child will by no means enter it."
16 And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and
blessed them.
Matt 10:40-42
40 "He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives
Him who sent Me.
41 "He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive
a prophet's reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the
name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
42 "And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold
water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall
by no means lose his reward."
Matt 18:10
10 "Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones,
for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face
of My Father who is in heaven.
Luke 17:1-2
1 Then He said to the disciples, "It is impossible that no offenses
should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!
2 "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around
his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should
offend one of these little ones.
Luke 15:11-32
11 Then He said: "A certain man had two sons.
12 "And the younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give
me the portion of goods that falls to me.' So he divided to them
his livelihood.
13 "And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together,
journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with
prodigal living.
14 "But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in
that land, and he began to be in want.
15 "Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country,
and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 "And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods
that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything.
17 "But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's
hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with
hunger!
18 'I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father,
I have sinned against heaven and before you,
19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like
one of your hired servants."'
20 "And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still
a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran
and fell on his neck and kissed him.
21 "And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven
and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
22 "But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe
and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his
feet.
23 'And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat
and be merry;
24 'for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and
is found.' And they began to be merry.
25 "Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew
near to the house, he heard music and dancing.
26 "So he called one of the servants and asked what these things
meant.
27 "And he said to him, 'Your brother has come, and because he
has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted
calf.'
28 "But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father
came out and pleaded with him.
29 "So he answered and said to his father, 'Lo, these many years
I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment
at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might
make merry with my friends.
30 'But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your
livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.'
31 "And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all
that I have is yours.
32 'It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your
brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.'"
Prov 3:1-12
1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands;
2 For length of days and long life and peace they will add to
you.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you; bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart,
4 And so find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your
own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from
evil.
8 It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.
9 Honor the LORD with your possessions, and with the firstfruits
of all your increase;
10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will
overflow with new wine.
11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, nor detest
His correction;
12 For whom the LORD loves He corrects, just as a father the son
in whom he delights.
Rom 8:14-17
14 ... as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons
of God.
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear,
but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba,
Father."
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are
children of God,
17 and if children, then heirs-- heirs of God and joint heirs
with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be
glorified together.
1 Cor 13:11
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child,
I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish
things.
Gal 4:6-7
6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His
Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"
7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son,
then an heir of God through Christ.
Eph 1:4-5,11
4 … He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that
we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to
Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined
according to the purpose of Him who works all things according
to the counsel of His will,
Eph 6:1-4
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment
with promise:
3 "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."
4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but
bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
1 Pet 5:5-7
5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders.
Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with
humility, for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that
He may exalt you in due time,
7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
I Jn 2:1-6,12
1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you
may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the
Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for
ours only but also for the whole world.
3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments,
is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected
in him. By this we know that we are in Him.
6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just
as He walked.
12 I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven
you for His name's sake.
I Jn 3:2-7
2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been
revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed,
we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just
as He is pure.
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and
in Him there is no sin.
6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither
seen Him nor known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness
is righteous, just as He is righteous.
I Jn 4:4
4 You are of God, little children, ...because He who is in you
is greater than he who is in the world.
I Jn 5:1-5
1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and
everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten
of Him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love
God and keep His commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.
And His commandments are not burdensome.
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is
the victory that has overcome the world-- our faith.
5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that
Jesus is the Son of God?
May God bless
the reading of His Word.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word
of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged
sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of
joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents
of the heart.
