1 Cor
10:12
12 ...let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
Ps 65:2
2 O You who hear prayer, to You all flesh will come.
Ps 131:1-2
1 LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty. Neither do
I concern myself with great matters, nor with things too profound
for me.
2 Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child
with his mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.
Ps 138:6
6 Though the LORD is on high, yet He regards the lowly; but the
proud He knows from afar.
Ps 147:6,10-11
6 The LORD lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked down to the
ground.
10 He does not delight in the strength of the horse; he takes
no pleasure in the legs of a man.
11 The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who
hope in His mercy.
Ps 69:32
32 The humble shall see this and be glad; and you who seek God,
your hearts shall live.
Prov 11:2
2 When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom.
Job 5:11
11 He sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are
lifted to safety.
Ps 10:17
17 LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; you will prepare
their heart; you will cause Your ear to hear,
Ps 25:9-11
9 The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His
way.
10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth, to such as keep
His covenant and His testimonies.
11 For Your name's sake, O LORD, pardon my iniquity, for it is
great.
Ps 86:1-13, 15-16
1 Bow down Your ear, O LORD, hear me; for I am poor and needy.
2 Preserve my life, for I am holy; you are my God; save Your servant
who trusts in You!
3 Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I cry to You all day long.
4 Rejoice the soul of Your servant, for to You, O Lord, I lift
up my soul.
5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant
in mercy to all those who call upon You.
6 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; and attend to the voice of my
supplications.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, for You will
answer me.
8 Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord; nor are there
any works like Your works.
9 All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before
You, O Lord, and shall glorify Your name.
10 For You are great, and do wondrous things; you alone are God.
11 Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite
my heart to fear Your name.
12 I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I
will glorify Your name forevermore.
13 For great is Your mercy toward me, and You have delivered my
soul from the depths of Sheol.
15 ...You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious,
longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.
16 Oh, turn to me, and have mercy on me! Give Your strength to
Your servant...
Ps 138:6-8
6 Though the LORD is on high, yet He regards the lowly; but the
proud He knows from afar.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; you
will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and
Your right hand will save me.
8 The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; your mercy, O
LORD, endures forever; do not forsake the works of Your hands.
Prov 3:34
34 Surely He scorns the scornful, but gives grace to the humble.
Prov 11:2
2 When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom.
Prov 25:6-7,27
6 Do not exalt yourself in the presence of the king, and do not
stand in the place of the great;
7 For it is better that he say to you, "Come up here," than that
you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, whom your
eyes have seen.
27 It is not good to eat much honey; so to seek one's own glory
is not glory.
Prov 26:12
12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for
a fool than for him.
Prov 26:17
17 He who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own is like
one who takes a dog by the ears.
Prov 27:2
2 Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger,
and not your own lips.
Prov 29:5
5 A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.
Eccl 5:2
2 Do not be rash with your mouth, and let not your heart utter
anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on
earth; therefore let your words be few.
Prov 30:2-4,32
2 Surely I am more stupid than any man, and do not have the understanding
of a man.
3 I neither learned wisdom nor have knowledge of the Holy One.
4 Who has ascended into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered
the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name,
and what is His Son's name, if you know?
32 If you have been foolish in exalting yourself, or if you have
devised evil, put your hand on your mouth.
Eccl 12:1-8
1 Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before
the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say,
"I have no pleasure in them":
2 While the sun and the light, the moon and the stars, are not
darkened, and the clouds do not return after the rain;
3 In the day when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong
men bow down; when the grinders cease because they are few, and
those that look through the windows grow dim;
4 When the doors are shut in the streets, and the sound of grinding
is low; when one rises up at the sound of a bird, and all the
daughters of music are brought low;
5 Also they are afraid of height, and of terrors in the way; when
the almond tree blossoms, the grasshopper is a burden, and desire
fails. For man goes to his eternal home, and the mourners go about
the streets.
6 Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed, or the
golden bowl is broken, or the pitcher shattered at the fountain,
or the wheel broken at the well.
7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit
will return to God who gave it.
8 "Vanity of vanities," says the Preacher, "All is vanity."
Job 1:21
21 ... "Naked I came from my mother's womb,
and naked shall I return ... The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken
away; blessed be the name of the LORD."
Micah 6:8
8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD
require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly
with your God?
Zeph 3:5
5 The LORD is righteous..., he will do no unrighteousness. Every
morning He brings His justice to light; he never fails, but the
unjust knows no shame.
Ps 34:18-19
18 The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves
such as have a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers
him out of them all.
Matt 11:29-30
29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and
lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
Matt 18:2-4
2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst
of them,
3 and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted
and become as little children, you will by no means enter the
kingdom of heaven.
4 "Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the
greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 23:12
12 "... whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles
himself will be exalted.
Ps 38:1-22
1 O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your wrath, nor chasten me in Your
hot displeasure!
2 For Your arrows pierce me deeply, and Your hand presses me down.
3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your anger, nor
any health in my bones because of my sin.
4 For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden
they are too heavy for me.
5 My wounds are foul and festering because of my foolishness.
6 I am troubled, I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the
day long.
7 For my loins are full of inflammation, and there is no soundness
in my flesh.
8 I am feeble and severely broken; I groan because of the turmoil
of my heart.
9 Lord, all my desire is before You; and my sighing is not hidden
from You.
10 My heart pants, my strength fails me; as for the light of my
eyes, it also has gone from me.
11 My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague, and
my relatives stand afar off.
12 Those also who seek my life lay snares for me; those who seek
my hurt speak of destruction, and plan deception all the day long.
13 But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; and I am like a mute who
does not open his mouth.
14 Thus I am like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth
is no response.
15 For in You, O LORD, I hope; you will hear, O Lord my God.
16 For I said, "Hear me, lest they rejoice over me, lest, when
my foot slips, they exalt themselves against me."
17 For I am ready to fall, and my sorrow is continually before
me.
18 For I will declare my iniquity; I will be in anguish over my
sin.
19 But my enemies are vigorous, and they are strong; and those
who hate me wrongfully have multiplied.
20 Those also who render evil for good, they are my adversaries,
because I follow what is good.
21 Do not forsake me, O LORD; O my God, be not far from me!
22 Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation!
Ps 51:15-17
15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; you
do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite
heart-- these, O God, You will not despise.
Prov 19:1
1 Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than one who is
perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
Luke 9:46-48
46 ...a dispute arose among them as to which of them would
be greatest.
47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little
child and set him by Him,
48 and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in My
name receives Me; and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent
Me. For he who is least among you all will be great."
Luke 18:10-14
10 "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and
the other a tax collector.
11 "The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank
You that I am not like other men-- extortioners, unjust, adulterers,
or even as this tax collector.
12 'I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.'
13 "And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much
as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God,
be merciful to me a sinner!'
14 "I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather
than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled,
and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
2 Cor 6:1-11
1 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not
to receive the grace of God in vain.
2 For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in
the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted
time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
3 We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be
blamed.
4 But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God:
in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses,
5 in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness,
in fastings;
6 by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the
Holy Spirit, by sincere love,
7 by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness
on the right hand and on the left,
8 by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers,
and yet true;
9 as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live;
as chastened, and yet not killed;
10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many
rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
11 O Corinthians! We have spoken openly to you, our heart is wide
open.
Rom 12:3,16
3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is
among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to
think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure
of faith.
16 ...Do not be wise in your own opinion.
2 Cor 10:17-18
17 ..."he who glories, let him glory in the Lord."
18 For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord
commends.
2 Cor 12:12-21
12 Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with
all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds.
13 For what is it in which you were inferior to other churches,
except that I myself was not burdensome to you? Forgive me this
wrong!
14 Now for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will
not be burdensome to you; for I do not seek yours, but you. For
the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents
for the children.
15 And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though
the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.
16 But be that as it may, I did not burden you. Nevertheless,
being crafty, I caught you by cunning!
17 Did I take advantage of you by any of those whom I sent to
you?
18 I urged Titus, and sent our brother with him. Did Titus take
advantage of you? Did we not walk in the same spirit? Did we not
walk in the same steps?
19 Again, do you think that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak
before God in Christ. But we do all things, beloved, for your
edification.
20 For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as
I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish;
lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish
ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;
21 lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and
I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented
of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have
practiced.
Gal 6:14
14 ... God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our
Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me,
and I to the world
Gal 5:26
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying
one another.
Phil 2:3-11
3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but
in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but
also for the interests of others.
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to
be equal with God,
7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant,
and coming in the likeness of men.
8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and
became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the
name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in
heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Phil 4:5
5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
James 4:6-10
6 ..."God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift
you up.
May God bless
the reading of His Word.
Heb 4:12
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than
any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and
spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
