Lev 19:17-18
17 'You shall not hate your brother in your heart...
18 ...you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.
Lev 19:33-34
33 'And if a stranger dwells with you in your land, you shall
not mistreat him.
34 'The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born
among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers
in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
Deut 6:1-9
1 "Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and
judgments which the LORD your God has commanded to teach you,
that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over
to possess,
2 "that you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes
and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and
your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may
be prolonged.
3 "Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that
it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as
the LORD God of your fathers has promised you--' a land flowing
with milk and honey.'
4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!
5 "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with
all your soul, and with all your strength.
6 "And these words which I command you today shall be in your
heart.
7 "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall
talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the
way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
8 "You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall
be as frontlets between your eyes.
9 "You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on
your gates.
Prov 10:12
12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins.
Prov 15:17
17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a fatted calf
with hatred.
Song 8:6-7
6 ...love is as strong as death, jealousy as cruel as the grave;
its flames are flames of fire, a most vehement flame.
7 Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it.
If a man would give for love all the wealth of his house, it would
be utterly despised.
1 Cor 13:1-13
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have
not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries
and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could
remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though
I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me
nothing.
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does
not parade itself, is not puffed up;
5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked,
thinks no evil;
6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures
all things.
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will
fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there
is knowledge, it will vanish away.
9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is
in part will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child,
I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish
things.
12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now
I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest
of these is love.
1 Cor 14:1
1 Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts
1 Cor 16:14
14 Let all that you do be done with love.
Matt 5:41-48
41 "... whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
42 "Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow
from you do not turn away.
43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor
and hate your enemy.'
44 "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse
you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully
use you and persecute you,
45 "that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes
His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the
just and on the unjust.
46 "For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?
Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
47 "And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than
others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?
48 "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven
is perfect.
Matt 19:19
19 ... 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Matt 25:34-40
34 "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come,
you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world:
35 'for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you
gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
36 'I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited
Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.'
37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did
we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
38 'When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and
clothe You?
39 'Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'
40 "And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say
to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My
brethren, you did it to Me.'
Mark 9:41
41 "For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name,
because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will
by no means lose his reward.
Mark 12:30-33
30 '...you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with
all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.'
This is the first commandment.
31 "And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor
as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
32 So the scribe said to Him, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken
the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He.
33 "And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding,
with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's
neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings
and sacrifices."
Luke 6:31-38
31 "And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them
likewise.
32 "But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to
you? For even sinners love those who love them.
33 "And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit
is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
34 "And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back,
what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to
receive as much back.
35 "But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing
in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons
of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.
36 "Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
37 "Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you
shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down,
shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom.
For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back
to you."
John 13:34-35
34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another;
as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
35 "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have
love for one another."
John 15:13-17
13 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's
life for his friends.
14 "You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
15 "No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know
what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all
things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
16 "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that
you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain,
that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
17 "These things I command you, that you love one another.
Rom 12:9-21
9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to
what is good.
10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love,
in honor giving preference to one another;
11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly
in prayer;
13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.
16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind
on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise
in your own opinion.
17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in
the sight of all men.
18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably
with all men.
19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to
wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says
the Lord.
20 Therefore "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty,
give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire
on his head."
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Rom 13:8-14
8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves
another has fulfilled the law.
9 For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You
shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not bear
false witness," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other
commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall
love your neighbor as yourself."
10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment
of the law.
Romans 14:1
1 Receive one who is weak in the faith...
1 Cor 8:1
1 ...We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but
love edifies.
Gal 5:13-16
13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not
use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love
serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You
shall love your neighbor as yourself."
15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be
consumed by one another!
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the
lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Gal 5:25-26
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying
one another.
Eph 5:1-2
1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself
for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling
aroma.
Phil 1:9-11
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more
in knowledge and all discernment,
10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you
may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ,
11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by
Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Phil 2:1-5
1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort
of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and
mercy,
2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being
of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but
in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but
also for the interests of others.
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
Col 3:8-17
8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath,
malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.
9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man
with his deeds,
10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according
to the image of Him who created him,
11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised,
barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in
all.
12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender
mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone
has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so
you also must do.
14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of
perfection.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also
you were called in one body; and be thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching
and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of
the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
1 Tim 1:5
5 ... love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from
sincere faith,
1 Tim 6:11
11 ... pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience,
gentleness.
James 2:5-13
5 Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of
this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which
He promised to those who love Him?
6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress
you and drag you into the courts?
7 Do they not blaspheme that noble name by which you are called?
8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture,
"You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well;
9 but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted
by the law as transgressors.
10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one
point, he is guilty of all.
11 For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not
murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder,
you have become a transgressor of the law.
12 So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of
liberty.
13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy.
Mercy triumphs over judgment.
1 Pet 1:22-23
22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through
the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently
with a pure heart,
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible,
through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
1 Pet 2:17
17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the
king.
1 Pet 3:8-12
8 ... be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love
as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous;
9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on
the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that
you may inherit a blessing.
10 For "He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain
his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.
11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace
and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears
are open to their prayers...
1 Pet 4:8-10
8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for
"love will cover a multitude of sins."
9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.
10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another,
as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
2 Pet 1:5-11
5 ...add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,
6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to
perseverance godliness,
7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither
barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness,
and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call
and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;
11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into
the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I Jn 3:9-11,16-18
9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains
in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are
manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God,
nor is he who does not love his brother.
11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning,
that we should love one another,
16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.
And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17 But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in
need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God
abide in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but
in deed and in truth.
I Jn 4:7-21
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone
who loves is born of God and knows God.
8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has
sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live
through Him.
10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us
and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God
abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.
13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because
He has given us of His Spirit.
14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son
as Savior of the world.
15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides
in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.
God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God
in him.
17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have
boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in
this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear,
because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made
perfect in love.
19 We love Him because He first loved us.
20 If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is
a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen,
how can he love God whom he has not seen?
21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God
must love his brother also.
I Jn 2:9-11
9 He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in
darkness until now.
10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is
no cause for stumbling in him.
11 But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness,
and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has
blinded his eyes.
I John 5:1-3
1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and
everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten
of Him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love
God and keep His commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.
And His commandments are not burdensome.
May God bless
the reading of His Word.
Heb 4:12 For the word
of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged
sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of
joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents
of the heart.
