Ps 16:9-10 (Psalms 16, Old Testament Prophecy)
9 ... my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will
rest in hope.
10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your
Holy One to see corruption.
Luke 24:1-12 (New Testament
fulfillment)
1 Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning,
they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing
the spices which they had prepared.
2 But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.
3 Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this,
that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.
5 Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth,
they said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?
6 "He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you
when He was still in Galilee,
7 "saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of
sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.'"
8 And they remembered His words.
9 Then they returned from the tomb and told all these things to
the eleven and to all the rest.
10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and
the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles.
11 And their words seemed to them like idle tales, and they did
not believe them.
12 But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he
saw the linen cloths lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling
to himself at what had happened.
Luke 24:13-32
13 Now behold, two... were traveling that same day to a village
called Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem.
14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
15 So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself
drew near and went with them.
16 But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him.
17 And He said to them, "What kind of conversation is this that
you have with one another as you walk and are sad?"
18 Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him,
"Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known
the things which happened there in these days?"
19 And He said to them, "What things?" So they said to Him, "The
things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty
in deed and word before God and all the people,
20 "and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to
be condemned to death, and crucified Him.
21 "But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem
Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since
these things happened.
22 "Yes, and certain women of our company, who arrived at the
tomb early, astonished us.
23 "When they did not find His body, they came saying that they
had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive.
24 "And certain of those who were with us went to the tomb and
found it just as the women had said; but Him they did not see."
25 Then He said to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to
believe in all that the prophets have spoken!
26 "Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to
enter into His glory?"
27 And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to
them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
28 Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and
He indicated that He would have gone farther.
29 But they constrained Him, saying, "Abide with us, for it is
toward evening, and the day is far spent." And He went in to stay
with them.
30 Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that
He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.
31 Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished
from their sight.
32 And they said to one another, "Did not our heart burn within
us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the
Scriptures to us?"
Luke 24:33-36, 41-48
33 So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and
found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together,
34 saying, "The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!"
35 And they told about the things that had happened on the road,
and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread.
36 Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst
of them, and said to them, "Peace to you."
41 But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled,
He said to them, "Have you any food here?"
42 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.
43 And He took it and ate in their presence.
44 Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to
you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled
which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the
Psalms concerning Me."
45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend
the Scriptures.
46 Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was
necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the
third day,
47 "and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached
in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 "And you are witnesses of these things.
John 20:19-31
20 Now when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His
side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
21 So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has
sent Me, I also send you."
22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to
them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
23 "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if
you retain the sins of any, they are retained."
24 Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with
them when Jesus came.
25 The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the
Lord." So he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the print
of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and
put my hand into His side, I will not believe."
26 And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas
with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the
midst, and said, "Peace to you!"
27 Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at
My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do
not be unbelieving, but believing."
28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"
29 Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have
believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His
disciples, which are not written in this book;
31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in
His name.
John 21:1-23
1 After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples
at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself:
2 Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee,
the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together.
3 Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to
him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately
got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.
4 But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore;
yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
5 Then Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any food?" They
answered Him, "No."
6 And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the
boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were
not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.
7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It
is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord,
he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged
into the sea.
8 But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were
not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the
net with fish.
9 Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals
there, and fish laid on it, and bread.
10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have
just caught."
11 Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large
fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so
many, the net was not broken.
12 Jesus said to them, "Come and eat breakfast." Yet none of the
disciples dared ask Him, "Who are You?"-- knowing that it was
the Lord.
13 Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and
likewise the fish.
14 This is now the third time Jesus showed Himself to His disciples
after He was raised from the dead.
15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter,
"Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said
to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him,
"Feed My lambs."
16 He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do
you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love
You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep."
17 He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you
love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time,
"Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things;
You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.
18 "Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded
yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you
will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry
you where you do not wish."
19 This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God.
And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me."
20 Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved
following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and
said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?"
21 Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, "But Lord, what about this
man?"
22 Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what
is that to you? You follow Me."
23 Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple
would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not
die, but, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that
to you?"
Matt 28:17-20
17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has
been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit,
20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded
you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Amen.
John 21: 49-53
49 "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry
in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from
on high."
50 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His
hands and blessed them.
51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted
from them and carried up into heaven.
52 And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great
joy,
53 and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God...
1 Cor 15:1-58
1 Moreover, brethren, I,(Paul) declare to you the gospel which
I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,
2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which
I preached to you-- unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received:
that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day
according to the Scriptures,
5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.
6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once,
of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have
fallen asleep.
7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles.
8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out
of due time.
9 For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be
called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward
me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all,
yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
11 Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you
believed.
12 Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the
dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection
of the dead?
13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is
not risen.
14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and
your faith is also empty.
15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have
testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise
up-- if in fact the dead do not rise.
16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen.
17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still
in your sins!
18 Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all
men the most pitiable.
20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits
of those who have fallen asleep.
21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection
of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made
alive.
23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward
those who are Christ's at His coming.
24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the
Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and
power.
25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.
26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.
27 For "He has put all things under His feet." But when He says
"all things are put under Him," it is evident that He who put
all things under Him is excepted.
28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself
will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that
God may be all in all.
29 Otherwise, what will they do who are baptized for the dead,
if the dead do not rise at all? Why then are they baptized for
the dead?
30 And why do we stand in jeopardy every hour?
31 I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus
our Lord, I die daily.
32 If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus,
what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, "Let us eat
and drink, for tomorrow we die!"
33 Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits."
34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have
the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
35 But someone will say, "How are the dead raised up? And with
what body do they come?"
36 Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies.
37 And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but
mere grain-- perhaps wheat or some other grain.
38 But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its
own body.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh
of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fish, and another
of birds.
40 There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but
the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial
is another.
41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and
another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another
star in glory.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in
corruption, it is raised in incorruption.
43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in
weakness, it is raised in power.
44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There
is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being."
The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward
the spiritual.
47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man
is the Lord from heaven.
48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust;
and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall
also bear the image of the heavenly Man.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit
the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we
shall all be changed--
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.
For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal
must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this
mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the
saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."
55 "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?"
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our
Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always
abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is
not in vain in the Lord.
Gal 2:20
20 "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live,
but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself
for me.
May God bless the reading
of His Word.
Heb 4:12
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than
any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and
spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
