Ps 33:20-22
20 Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.
21 For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted
in His holy name.
22 Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us, just as we hope in You.
Ps 34:1-5
1 I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually
be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; the humble shall hear
of it and be glad.
3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together.
4 I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all
my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not
ashamed.
Ps 47:7-9
7 ... God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with understanding.
8 God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.
9 The princes of the people have gathered together, the people
of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to
God; he is greatly exalted.
Ps 84:1-12
1 How lovely is Your tabernacle, O LORD of hosts!
2 My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for
herself, where she may lay her young-- even Your altars, O LORD
of hosts, my King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; they will still be
praising You...
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, whose heart is
set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a spring;
the rain also covers it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God
in Zion.
8 O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob!...
9 O God, behold our shield, and look upon the face of Your anointed.
10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would
rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the
tents of wickedness.
11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace
and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk
uprightly.
12 O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You!
Ps 122:1,9
1 I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go into the house of
the LORD."
9 Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good.
Ps 134:1-3
1 Behold, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, who by
night stand in the house of the LORD!
2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.
3 The LORD who made heaven and earth bless you from Zion!
Eccl 5:1
1 Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near
to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do
not know that they do evil.
Mark 11:15-18
15 So they came to Jerusalem. And Jesus went into the temple and
began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and
overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those
who sold doves.
16 And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple.
17 Then He taught, saying to them, "Is it not written, 'My house
shall be called a house of prayer for all nations'? But you have
made it a 'den of thieves.'"
18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it and sought how they
might destroy Him; for they feared Him, because all the people
were astonished at His teaching.
John 10:1-18,27-30
1 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold
by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief
and a robber.
2 "But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 "To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice;
and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
4 "And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them;
and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
5 "Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee
from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers."
6 Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the
things which He spoke to them.
7 Then Jesus said to them again, "Most assuredly, I say to you,
I am the door of the sheep.
8 "All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the
sheep did not hear them.
9 "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and
will go in and out and find pasture.
10 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and
to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they
may have it more abundantly.
11 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for
the sheep.
12 "But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not
own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees;
and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.
13 "The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care
about the sheep.
14 "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known
by My own.
15 "As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay
down My life for the sheep.
16 "And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also
I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one
flock and one shepherd.
17 "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that
I may take it again.
18 "No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have
power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This
command I have received from My Father."
27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
28 "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish;
neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
29 "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all;
and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.
30 "I and My Father are one."
1 Cor 11:16-34
16 But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom,
nor do the churches of God.
17 Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since
you come together not for the better but for the worse.
18 For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear
that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it.
19 For there must also be factions among you, that those who are
approved may be recognized among you.
20 Therefore when you come together in one place, it is not to
eat the Lord's Supper.
21 For in eating, each one takes his own supper ahead of others;
and one is hungry and another is drunk.
22 What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you
despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What
shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise
you.
23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to
you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed
took bread;
24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take,
eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance
of Me."
25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as
you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you
proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the
Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood
of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread
and drink of the cup.
29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks
judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many
sleep.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that
we may not be condemned with the world.
33 Therefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait
for one another.
34 But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come
together for judgment...
1 Cor 14:1-40
1 Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that
you may prophesy.
2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God,
for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
3 But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and
comfort to men.
4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies
edifies the church.
5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied;
for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues,
unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.
6 But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what
shall I profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation,
by knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching?
7 Even things without life, whether flute or harp, when they make
a sound, unless they make a distinction in the sounds, how will
it be known what is piped or played?
8 For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare
himself for battle?
9 So likewise you, unless you utter by the tongue words easy to
understand, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will
be speaking into the air.
10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world,
and none of them is without significance.
11 Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I
shall be a foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will
be a foreigner to me.
12 Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let
it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.
13 Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret.
14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding
is unfruitful.
15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and
I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the
spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.
16 Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies
the place of the uninformed say "Amen" at your giving of thanks,
since he does not understand what you say?
17 For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18 I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all;
19 yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding,
that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue.
20 Brethren, do not be children in understanding; however, in
malice be babes, but in understanding be mature.
21 In the law it is written: "With men of other tongues and other
lips I will speak to this people; and yet, for all that, they
will not hear Me," says the Lord.
22 Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe
but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers but
for those who believe.
23 Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place,
and all speak with tongues, and there come in those who are uninformed
or unbelievers, will they not say that you are out of your mind?
24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person
comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all.
25 And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling
down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly
among you.
26 How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each
of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation,
has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most
three, each in turn, and let one interpret.
28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church,
and let him speak to himself and to God.
29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.
30 But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the
first keep silent.
31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and
all may be encouraged.
32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in
all the churches of the saints.
34 Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not
permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law
also says.
35 And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own
husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.
36 Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it
you only that it reached?
37 If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let
him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments
of the Lord.
38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not
forbid to speak with tongues.
40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
Col 3:12-16
12 ... as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies,
kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone
has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so
you also must do.
14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of
perfection.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also
you were called in one body; and be thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching
and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
1 Tim 1:3-17
3 ...teach no other doctrine,
4 nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause
disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.
5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart,
from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,
6 from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk,
7 desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what
they say nor the things which they affirm.
8 But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully,
9 knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person,
but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for
sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers
and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars,
for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary
to sound doctrine,
11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was
committed to my trust.
12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because
He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,
13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an
insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly
in unbelief.
14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith
and love which are in Christ Jesus.
15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am
chief.
16 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first
Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those
who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.
17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone
is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever...
1 Tim 3:15
15 ... I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself
in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the
pillar and ground of the truth.
Gal 6:10
10 ... as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially
to those who are of the household of faith.
Heb 10:22-25
22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies
washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,
for He who promised is faithful.
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and
good works,
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the
manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more
as you see the Day approaching.
Heb 13:8
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
John 3:30
30 "He must increase, but I must decrease.
James 4:8
8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
May God bless the reading
of His Word.
Heb 4:12
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than
any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and
spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
